Powering the green energy transition with advanced battery solutions
The Battery Lab focuses on the integration, implementation, and testing of cutting-edge energy storage systems to support a sustainable energy future. The lab is structured around flexible, modular setups implementing a wide range of battery applications, both in isolated environments and in interconnected grids. The lab’s digital infrastructure supports seamless data collection and data exchange with external partners and demonstration sites, ranging from residential battery systems to industrial scale BESS. The lab allows for real-time monitoring and control, as well as cooperative management of power delivery and power sinking.
Facilities to innovate battery cells, modules, complete systems, and grid integration technologies
The Lab is equipped to support experimental activities for battery cells, modules, racks, and complete systems. Offering access to powerful bidirectional power converters, DC battery emulators, high-performance power amplifiers, grid-connection interfaces, and an advanced hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) platform, the Battery Lab can rigorously evaluate storage systems from watt-hour (Wh) to megawatt-hour (MWh) battery electric energy systems (BESS). The lab allows for realistic performance analysis across various operational conditions, providing insights crucial to advancing robust and efficient battery energy storage technologies.
