The Heart Project
The HEART project aims to advance the electric vehicle (EV) charging landscape by developing the most advanced scalable and modular smart fast charger.
HEART: Super high efficiency fast EV charger with energy storage and grid support functionality
The HEART project is advancing the development of the world’s most sophisticated scalable and modular smart electric vehicle fast charger, leveraging cutting-edge silicon carbide (SiC) technology. This new SiC-based charger offers significant improvements over traditional silicon-based chargers, including faster switching frequencies and enhanced thermal performance. These advancements allow for higher power density and greater efficiency, all while maintaining a comparable cost per kilowatt to the best fast chargers currently on the market.
In addition to these performance gains, the new charger will integrate several innovative features not yet available in competing products. These include plug-and-play connectivity for supplementary energy storage, voltage and frequency support, congestion management capabilities, and the ability to operate on weak grids by estimating local grid impedance and shaping its own impedance accordingly. These innovations aim to set a new benchmark for fast-charging technology in the electric vehicle sector.
