StoRIES – Pioneering Energy Storage

The StoRIES project is born with the idea of bringing together a consortium of beneficiaries like facilities from the European Strategy Forum on Research Facilities (ESFRI), technology institutes, universities and industrial partners to jointly improve the economic performance of storage technologies.

Pioneering Energy Storage Innovations for a Greener Europe

In response to the European Green Deal’s ambitious goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050, the StoRIES project has been launched to drive innovation in energy storage technologies. This initiative brings together a diverse consortium of leading research institutions, technology centers, universities, and industry partners, with the goal of transforming the economic and technological landscape of energy storage systems in Europe.

A key focus of StoRIES is to enhance access to state-of-the-art research infrastructure, enabling breakthroughs in energy storage materials and the optimization of hybrid energy systems. By improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of these technologies, the project aims to support Europe’s transition to a more sustainable energy future.

In addition to its technical ambitions, the StoRIES project places strong emphasis on socio-technical and environmental analyses, ensuring that new storage technologies are not only viable but also aligned with broader sustainability goals. Education and training initiatives are also integral to the project, equipping the next generation of scientists and engineers with the knowledge and skills to advance energy innovation.

StoRIES marks a significant step towards Europe’s energy transformation, with its outcomes poised to play a critical role in meeting the continent’s climate targets. For more information, visit the StoRIES project website.
